The disadvantages of cellophane packaging include the fact that it does not decompose in nature, and multi-layer film structures can be challenging to recycle. It also easily accumulates static electricity. BOPP plastic film does not shrink or stretch and it has good tear resistance but poor puncture resistance. Cellophane packaging does not withstand high temperatures as well as PET plastic (cellophane softens at approximately 140–160°C), so it is not suitable for oven use, and its heat-sealing window may be narrow depending on the quality. Compared to PET or aluminum laminates, cellophane has weaker oxygen and aroma barrier properties.
